A Jaguar Luxury Wagon? Lovers of Versatility, Rejoice in the 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake

The new 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake--which will be available in VA and the DC metro area at the end of this year, sometime in the winter--isn't quite a wagon. But it's more than a coupe. It's closer in size and style to Audi's newest A5 and S5 Sportback, but will be able to compete comfortably with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon.

And, of course, it's pure Jaguar class and performance.

What is the Jaguar XF Sportbrake?

As you could guess, the new 2018 XF Sportbrake is based largely on the design and platform of the iconic Jaguar XF sedan. But, unlike the classic sedan design, the roof of the Sportbrake has been extended broadly over the rear of the vehicle in typical hatchback fashion, while still following the language of Jaguar's other coupe models.

All new Jaguar XF Sportbrake models will offer a standard 380-horsepower 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine, paired to an eight-speed automatic. Jaguar's rear-wheel-based Intuitive All-Wheel Drive will be offered for capability, making this versatile new sports wagon a true performer with a soul to match.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake release date, price & trim levels

The all-new "sportbrake" wagon will be offered in two trim levels, at least for the 2018 model-year: a standard 2018 Jaguar XF S Sportbrake models, and--similar to the F-PACE SUV when it was very first released--a special-edition and luxuriously-equipped 2018 Jaguar XF S Sportbrake First Edition model.

We can expect to see the 2018 Jaguar XF S Sportbrake released and for sale in winter of 2017. Pricing starts at $70,540.
